Launching our Scout Network

As a team of entrepreneurs, we think that working in an open and fair way leads to better outcomes. We want to back the best ideas, wherever they are, and we'd love you to join us on this journey.

Help us find the next generation of entrepreneurial talent

Applications are now open to become a Mission Ventures Scout. These are people aligned with our mission of building a better food system and well-connected to the innovators tackling this problem. Each scout will be financially incentivised through a cash payment when they help us find and back the best entrepreneurs. We'll also bring you into our network and make sure you're first to hear about the initiatives we're launching and how you can be involved.

The current model of funding and supporting the growth of ambitious and early-stage companies is unfair. Between 2009 and 2019, 42% of Venture Capital money went to founders from an 'elite educational background,' while only 2.87% went to all-female teams. Shockingly, just 0.25% of funding went to black-owned food and drink businesses. Many of these overlooked founders would have launched exciting and differentiated new products if supported.

To help address this in the food and drink industry, we want to make sure we're engaging with the best ideas and the most diverse networks in the UK. This includes communities or parts of the UK where we don't operate.

An opportunity to grow a business shouldn't be predicated on where you live or your current networks. We're currently looking for 5 x Scouts with access and a network of founders, innovators and businesses who would be willing to make active introductions to talented innovators with great ideas. We're especially interested in hearing from those with networks outside of London and in communities typically underrepresented by entrepreneurship.
